Childhood Room

I want to be able to remember everything about Mason and Tanner growing up.  I use this blog as a journal where I document everything that goes on in our lives.  After Mason was born Casey started buying me Taylor Swift albums.  One of my favorite songs of hers is "Never Grow Up."  Every time I listen to this song, it reminds me how fast time does fly by.  I can't even listen to this song without bursting into tears because of the thought of life speeding by way too fast.  It sounds silly, but it was this song that inspired me to start up my blog...again.  I don't keep a journal and I'm so far behind in my scrapbooking that I knew blogging would be my only way to document all our family's: adventures, hard times, happy times, and all the moments in between.
I'm kind of a sentimental person when it comes to times.  Everyday I look and Mason and Tanner and wish time would stop in its tracks for just a little while.  I've loved having them little, but at the same time I've loved watching them grow and learn new things.

In the song "Never Grow up" it says, "Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room."  For some reason this stood out to me, and ever since I finished decorating Mason's nursery, I've been meaning to write this post.

Recently we moved Mason into his own room.  I didn't think this transition would be as hard on me as it ended up being.  After getting Mason's room all ready, he would walk by his new room and just cry.  I thought getting Mason used to a new bed would take a lot of training, but as soon as he realized his big boy bed was big enough for our whole family to sit on while we read stories and sang songs to Mason for naps and at night time he realized how fun his big boy bed really was.

The first night I asked him if he wanted to sleep in his crib he shook his head no, he wanted to sleep in his big boy bed.  I knew for sure that it would end up being a rough night, but Mason was insistent to sleep in his new bed.  We read stories to him, sang him songs, then told him we'd be back to check on him in just a few minutes.  I walked out of the room and looked inside his old room and saw his empty crib.  Tears streamed down my face as I stopped to realize, yet again, how fast our little Mason is growing up.
That night I laid awake all night, thinking Mason would call my name for me to come get him.  I bet I went to check on him about 30 times that night.  Not once did Mason wake up and call for me, he slept the entire night in his big boy bed.
Our little Mason has now slept in his big boy bed for over a month now.  Each night he's eager to read stories and sing songs with the whole family on "his" bed.  He loves his new room and bed.

As the song "Never Grow Up" says "Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room" Here are a few pictures of Mason's old room, new room, and Tanner's new room.

We moved Tanner into the nursery about 2 weeks after we moved Mason into his new room (2 moves in one week was just too much for me to handle).

October Happenings--2014

Our October was filled with lots of fun.  Here is a little of what we were up to during the month of October.

1.  My mom came over and left her glasses here.  Mason loved trying them on.

2.  Trying to teach Tanner how to sit up.

3.  Casey enjoying the last few tomatoes of the season.

4.  Mason loves pushing Scout around in his car.

5.  Had lunch with my cousin Emily.  Emily and I have been best friends forever and now we have baby boys who are only 6 days apart.

6.  Moved Mason into his big boy bed.

7.  Goofed around in Daddy's sunglasses.

8.  Spent days making our little Tanner laugh and smile.

9.  Went to Purple Turtle for ice cream.

10.  On October 11th, my family had our annual Surf-N-Turf.  The weather was perfect for the occasion.  Mom and dad rented a fun obstacle course and sports game.  As always the food was delicious.  We had green salad, jello salad, Texas Roadhouse rolls, yummy steak, crab legs, delicious drinks, Slurpees, and yummy ice cream in homemade ice cream bowls.  Everything tasted so good, I hadn't eaten anything all day so I could save my appetite for that night.
After dinner we celebrated dad's, Jared's, Lydia's and Ashley's birthdays.  We had a great night spending time with family.

11.  For family home evening we learned about prayer.  We painted prayer rocks to place in the boy's rooms to help remind us to say prayers each night and to remind us how we act during prayers.  This was Mason's first time painting and he loves his prayer rock.  Every night while we say prayer he holds it.

12.  With the warm weather in October, we were able to take the kids to the park a few more times before it got too cold.  We tried going to the park at least once a week.  Mason loved every minute of going to the park and being able to play with his friends.

13.  Found these two snuggled up together watching a movie on the Kindle.

14.  Celebrated Halloween

15.  Laughed with these goofy kids

What a busy month.

Tanner at 7 Months

Our little Tanner is growing up way too fast.  I swear he was just a newborn baby, like yesterday, and now he is already 7 months old.  Tanner turned 7 months old on October 25th.  Here are 7 facts about our little Tanner at 7 months old.

1.  Tanner still loves being swaddled.  I'm not sure how to even wing him off of it.  He'll sleep great for naps and pretty good through the night as long as he is swaddled.  He'll even put himself to sleep as long as he is swaddled.  If he is not swaddled, his reflexes in his arms go crazy and he can't seem to sleep for longer then 10 minutes before waking himself up.

2.  Tanner's 2 bottom front teeth finally popped through this last month.  His 2 top front teeth will follow closely, I'm Sure.

3.  Tanner is in size 2 diapers, 6-12 month clothes, and eats 4 6oz. bottles/day.  He also loves: rice cereal, applesauce, pears, sweet potatoes, and carrots.  He's not a fan of oatmeal.  Tanner also takes 2-3 naps a day lasting about 2-3 hours each.

4.  This past month we moved Tanner into his own room.  The transition was a little hard for me, but he actually sleeps a lot better in his own room in his crib.  Tanner usually will fall asleep around 9:30.  Wakes up once, around 4, to eat, then sleeps in until about 8-8:30.

5.  Tanner loves to be held.  It doesn't matter by who, he just loves to be held.

6.  This past month Tanner has pretty much mastered sitting up.   He's still not great at it and if something makes him sad or really excited he'll tip over, but for the most part he's pretty good at sitting up.

7.  Tanner is usually a pretty happy baby.  He loves to squeal, blow his tongue, laugh, smile, and jump in his jumper.  Tanner also loves to be tickled and he's pretty much ticklish everywhere.

We are so in love with our little Tanner.  He brings so much joy in our family.  We love watching his little personality grow and we love how happy our little Tanner is.
