On September 16th Mason turned 24 months/2 years old and on September 25th Tanner turned 6 months old. Having these 2 only 18 months apart makes it so nice when it comes to doctors appointments. I was able to take Mason for his 2 year check-up and Tanner for his 6 month check-up at the same time.
Here is Mason 's stats at 2 years old.
Weight: 25lbs. in the 28th %
Height: 34 inches in the 30th %
Head: 19 inches in the 70th %
Talking: My doctor referred us to Kids On The Move for Mason's speech delay. The doctor didn't seem too worried about him, but he is saying about 50 words short of what he should be saying. I'm hoping Kids On The Move will be able to give me a few pointers on how to get Mason talking a little more.
Other: The doctor took one look at Mason's unbruised legs and said he could tell Mason was a cautions child. To me, Mason seems a little fearless, but fearless with caution. He loves exploring new things, but he always does it slow, almost like he's thinking of all the things that could go wrong if he takes one wrong step.
Mason is one happy boy, it always seems like Mason is always laughing or smiling. One of his favorite things to do right now is play with his cousins. He loves playing with kids. I often find Mason playing with the "big" kids, I know he wants to be just like them when he grows up.
Mason loves anything with wheels. If it has wheels, he thinks it's the coolest thing he has ever seen. He'll often point at things with wheels and say "wow" in a gruff tough voice.
Mason loves books of any kind. The other day we sat and read books on the couch for about 40 minutes straight. He would run to his room, grab a book from his shelf, then bring it to me to read to him. He got some new truck books for his birthday that he loves me to read to him while he points at the pictures. I love reading to our little Mason.
We love our little Mason. I count my blessings everyday that I get to stay home and be apart of all these new milestones of Mason's and Tanner's.
Here is Tanner's stats at 6 months old.
Weight: 14lbs. in the 7th %
Height: 25 inches in the 6th %
Head: 16 inches in the 28th %
Tanner's not breaking too many records for his size, but we couldn't be happier with our healthy growing baby.
Sleeping: Tanner is still taking about 3 naps a day. In in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening. He's been going to bed around 10:00 and waking up around 4 to eat. He'll usually go right back to sleep and sleep until about 8.
Talking: We love to hear all the little sounds this little baby makes.
Eating: Tanner is eating 6 oz. 4 times a day. This past month I started Tanner on solids. Tanner eats 2 servings of rice cereal a day--one in the morning and one in the evening.
Teeth: I say this every month, but Tanner's teeth are so close to popping through on the bottom. I'm surprised that they haven't popped through yet, since Mason's popped through at about 5.5 months old. I'm guessing it'll be any day for Tanner, but I'll probably be saying that again next month.
Other: Adding Tanner to our little family has been such a blessing. We love this little guy so so much. I can't believe Tanner is already 6 months old. Tanner loves Mason. He loves just sitting and watching in amazement at all Mason can do. This past month I've watched Mason and Tanner really start to interact with each other. These moments make being a mom so much fun. I hope and pray everyday that Mason and Tanner will be best friends.
Tanner is so close to sitting up. He hasn't quite mastered this skill yet, but I'm guessing at any day, with a little more practice, he'll be sitting up in not time.
Tanner loves to be held and cuddled still. He'll be crying for no reason and as soon as you pick him up he's fine. Tanner also has a little bit of fear if he is left alone, or thinks he is left alone. As long as he can see someone he is usually fine to lay on the floor, ride in his carseat, or rock in his bouncer, but as soon as he thinks you might have left the room he starts to get a little nervous and he'll start to cry. Even as much as when he is laying on the bed for me to change his diaper and I bend down, to where he can't see me anymore, to get a diaper out of the drawer, Tanner will start screaming. He hates to be left alone.
Tanner is also very very ticklish. Anywhere you try to tickle him, he laughs. Tanner is a very smiley baby. He loves to have people play with him. He gets the biggest smiles on his face if you hide and pop up to scare him and say "boo." Tanner loves to laugh. I love to hear his little laugh especially when it's Mason that's making Tanner laugh.
Tanner is such a joy to have in our family. We love his little personality and his huge smile.
