June Happenings

I can't believe summer is here.  We had a fun June full of fun!  Here is a little of what we did in June, in pictures.

1.  For mother's day we gave my mom a yard clean up.  We all got together and clean up my parents yard, planted flowers, got out their outdoor furniture, and pretty much got the yard ready for Summer.  While the adults worked, the kids played in the sandbox.
2.  Amy and Jared did the food for their stake's Son's of Helaman camp again.  We always look forward to this time because it means we get to spend all Thursday, Friday, and some of Saturday with Mason's best friends.  We played in the water outside, slip-n-slide, ate popsicles, rode bikes, and took all the kids to Casey's softball game that Friday.  It was a great week!!

3.  We got our yard leveled out and time for sod.  Sod came on a Thursday morning.  There were 9 pallets of sod to lay down.  With the help of Casey, Jared, Dad, Daniel, Ryan, Phil, CJ, and Bridgette, we were able to get all 9 pallets of sod layed in just about 2 hours.  Everyone worked so hard and we are so grateful for family that was willing to help us out.
4.  We went to the Orem Summerfest carnival.  Mason and Tanner both had a blast riding the bee ride with daddy.  Mason desperately wanted to ride the "big wheel" (ferris wheel), but it cost about $3/person.  I decided to sit out with Tanner while Casey took Mason on the "big wheel."  Mason loved every minute of it!!

5.  Casey applied for a job, in May, at the Riverside Country Club to be their facility manager.  After a long process of 2 interviews and 3 weeks later, we found out that the job had been given to someone who already had the experience of working at the Country Club.  Casey and I were pretty devastated, but knew that Heavenly Father had a different plan for us and our family.  After we found out Casey didn't get the job, he again started applying for jobs. Casey wanted to be done in the school district because he had applied for countless jobs within the district and they were always given to someone else, even though Casey was the ONLY custodian in the district to have a college degree.  He applied to a Real Estate company to be their facility manager and was offered the position, but we had to turn it down because they could not offer insurance.  Casey also got an interview with Nebo School District to be their computer tech., something Casey has absolutely no experience in, but for some reason got an interview.  Right before his interview with the district, Casey got a phone call from the Riverside Country Club asking if he might still be interested in the Facility Manager position.  Come to find out the person they had originally hired, turned out to be a total flake who never showed up to work.  Casey was ecstatic and of course took the job.
To make for a long story short, Casey's last day of work was on June 11th.  It was a bitter sweet day for the both of us, but we are excited for Casey to start this new adventure.  Casey had worked in the school district for the past 11 years, so quiting was a big deal, but he is so happy working at the Country Club and I know it'll open up more opportunities for Casey's career.
6.  Amy, Stacy, Meg, Myrn, and I took the kids to the BYU Bean Museum.  Everyone had a great time.
7.  Casey at his new job.  He loves everything about his new job.  It makes me happy to see Casey so excited to go to work each day.

8.  We celebrated my 28th birthday.  Casey has taken off my birthday every year since we got married, but he couldn't this year because he started his new job.  So I spent the day with the next best people...my sisters.  We ate lunch together, went to the Scera Pool, then went to dinner at Brick Oven with Lin, Daniel, Stacy, Canyon, Oaks, Jack, Myrn, Garrett and my little family.  It was a great birthday!!

9.  Amy, Meg, Myrn, and I took the kids to the Hogle Zoo.  It was so much fun and Mason and Tanner loved seeing all the different animals.

10.  My cousin Jenny got married in the South Jordan temple on June 26th.  All my siblings were able to attend the marriage ceremony in the temple.  I love my siblings and I'm so proud to call them my family.
11.  We took Mason and Tanner to cook's greenhouse to pick out some new flowers for our backyard.  We then took them across the street to the Harley store.  This has become a favorite Saturday thing to do.

June is my favorite month of the year for so many reasons:  my birthday, school is just getting out, summer begins, etc.  I'm always sad to see June pass by, but I'm glad we were able to make the most of it this year!

  1. Sounds like the job was the perfect move. And heres to next year, maybe he could take the day off! :) So sorry we weren't able to help with the sod, it was some bad timing. One of these days we need to double date!
