Tanner's 1st Birthday

Well our little Tanner is one!!  It seems like he's been one now for a while, so it didn't really hit me as a big shock until his actual birthday hit.  I wasn't even emotional all day, until it came time to rock my "baby" to sleep that night.  I just can't believe how fast this past year has gone and how fast our little Tanner is growing up.

We celebrated Tanner's birthday 3 times!! Once with Casey's family, once with mine, and then again on his actual birthday.  Our little Tanner was very spoiled!!

I did a Dr. Seuss themed party for Tanner.  I made these cute invitations for Tanner.  We celebrated Isaac's birthday at the same time we celebrated Tanner's, since they are only 11 days apart.
We had the party at Casey's school on March 15th with Casey's family.  It was the perfect place to get together.  We had a delicious dinner of chicken salad sandwiches, Cat in the Hat fruit kabobs, one fish two fish jello, Lorax punch, and some chips.  At the party we: made Dr. Seuss hats, cotton candy, Cat in the Hat balloon pop, and a fish pond.

After dinner and activities we opened Tanner's presents form grandma and grandpa Mecham and CJ and Bridgette.  Grandma and Grandpa gave Tanner a treat basket, some cute new clothes, and some new books.  CJ and Bridgette gave Tanner a bath toy duck.
After presents it was time for dessert.  I made Tanner this cute Dr. Seuss cake, but didn't let Tanner dig into it because he hadn't been feeling well a couple days prior.
After dessert, it was time to clean up and head home.  This party was such a great start to the celebrating of Tanner's birthday.

We celebrated with my family on March 22nd at my mom and dad's house.  We also celebrated Myrn's, Justin's, and Parker's birthdays as well.  We started out with a delicious dinner:  Jared's famous BBQed steak, cheesey potatoes, green salad, and the Cat in the the Hat fruit kabobs.  Everything tasted so good.
While everyone picked up the dishes, I gathered the kids to make Cat in the Hat hats, and make cotton candy.  All the kids LOVED it.

After cleaning the dishes up and playing a few games, it was time to open presents.  Everyone was so kind to Tanner.  He got:  bath toy boats from the Hess family, puffs, and a cute bath toy penguin from Daniel and Stacy, super hero Mr. Potato Heads from Ryan and Meg, a huge thing of bubbles from Lin and Justin, and a cute Dr. Seuss bag full of books and a Dr. Seuss sippy cup from Myrn and Garrett.  I was so grateful for the love and support that was shown for our little Tanner that night.
After presents, we had dessert.  I was so full from dinner, but that didn't stop me from eating way too much dessert.  There was brownies, choc. chip cookies, Oreo cookies, and DQ ice cream cake.

The night came to an end way to soon and it was time to tell everyone good-bye.

Tanner's actual birthday was on March 25th.  We pretty much celebrated all day.  For breakfast Casey brought us Birthday Donuts. For lunch I took Mason and Tanner to a McDonalds with a play place.  Amy met us there (since Parker and Tanner share the same birthday).  The kids had so much fun playing together on the play place.
After lunch I took the boys home for their naps.  Casey got home around 4:30 and it was time for more celebrating.  We took Mason and Tanner to Flowserve in Springville (where dad used to work), and let them feed the ducks.  This is a favorite tradition of mine.  Since dad used to work their I have so many memories of mom and dad taking us to feed the ducks bread.  It was so fun to start this tradition with our own little family.  Mason loved getting really close to the ducks and throwing the bread to them.  I was a little nervous, because there were so many ducks, that Tanner and I didn't get too close to them, but still had fun throwing the bread in the water for the ducks to eat.  We took a whole loaf of bread and within about 30 minutes it was gone, so we took Mason and Tanner to a park afterwords to play.

After the park we met grandma and grandpa Mecham at Cafe Rio for dinner.  It was fun to get to see them on Tanner's birthday.

After dinner we came back home.  Mom and dad came over to give Tanner his cute clothes and fun Little Peoples airplane for his birthday.  We ended the night by singing Happy Birthday to Tanner, let Mason blow out his candles, ate root beer floats and cookies, then got the kids in the tub and ready for bed.  They were completely exhausted after such a fun filled day.

Tanner has been such a huge blessing in our lives.  He has a loving personality and has definitely taught us how to be more patient.  We love you Tanner.  Happy Birthday!!
