4th of July--2015

I just LOVE the 4th of July, and being able to spend the day with family makes it even better!  We started our celebrations on Thursday, July 2nd.  Casey and I woke the boys up early and took them to see the balloons, along with Myrn, the Hess Family, mom and dad, and Canyon and Oaks (Daniel had kidney stones and was in the hospital so we took Canyon and Oaks with us to see the balloons).  The balloons were extra memorable this year because as we were standing watching all the balloons in the air, when the piggy balloon started descending...fast.  We later heard on the news that another balloon ran into the piggy balloon, ripping a hole in it.  The pig balloon caught on fire and that explains the very fast descent.  Luckily the pig balloon landed in a tree and no one was hurt.  After the balloons Casey and I took the boys to Krispy Kreme to get some donuts for breakfast.  On our way home both boys fell asleep in the car.  They were completely exhausted from waking up so early.

The 4th of July was on a Saturday this year.  Lin had talked me into running the Freedom Festival 5K, so we woke up early got the boys ready to go, and met everyone else who was also running it so we could be together.  I walked the 5K with dad.  We had so much fun.  Dad pushed Mason and Tanner in the stroller.  When we got to the 2.5 mile mark, Casey met up with us and finished walking it with us.  Stacy, Canyon, Lin, Myrn, Garrett, Casey, Dad, Mason, Tanner, and I were the ones in the family who participated in the 5K.  We had a lot of fun.

After the 5K, we met up with the rest of the family and the Crandall family to watch the parade.  As usual we had yummy treats, donuts, chocolate milk, and orange juice.

After the parade we took the boys home for a nap.  They were so tired from waking up so early to do the 5K run, that they fell asleep on our way back to the car.  Around 5 that evening, we went to Tim and Natalie's annual 4th of July BBQ.  That night we celebrated with fireworks at our house with Myrn and Garrett and Emily and Chris.

We had a fun 4th of July.  It is by far my favorite holiday and I'm so glad I got to spend it my favorite people...family.
